  • Discover the "KING" Biscuits

Among our biscuits you can find the “King's Biscuits”, created in Altedo on the occasion of the visit of King Vittorio Emanuele III on 6 June 1918 based on a recipe and preparation by my great-grandmother Gertrude Martinelli Pezzoli (grandmother Tuda), mother of the then Mayor Zeno Pezzoli who, on that occasion, established a strange and emblematic record: being by nature not inclined to get up early, she made the king wait so she could sleep a little longer.

These biscuits, similar to cantucci but softer and with a decidedly different flavor thanks to the candied citron, anise, and vanilla sugar, were so popular with the king that he asked for some to bring to his children. Grandma Tuda wrapped them in a napkin, tying it as was customary in the countryside. She refused the king's proposal to patent them, arguing that they had been made exclusively in honor of His Majesty and not for sale, but she requested and obtained permission to call them

“THE KING’S BISCUITS” which are still a source of pride for the town and for our entire family and at the Court you can taste them in the most original version by our pastry chef Lorenza like all the desserts you find in the wrapping.
